Serum immunoglobulins in juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

چکیده
Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) differs in many aspects from its adult counterpart (Edstrom, 1958); one of the differences is a low incidence of positive sero-reactions for rheumatoid factors (RF) in patients with JRA (Bywaters, Carter, and Scott, 1959; Sievers, Ahvonen, Aho, and Wager, 1963; Ansell, 1966). Although the agglutinating activity of RF was found in different classes of immunoglobulins (IgC, IgA, IgM), the typical representative ofRF is IgM (McCormick, 1966). However, there is no direct correlation between the IgM values and the presence or absence of RF in the serum of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (Claman and Merrill, 1966; Barden, Mullinax, and Waller, 1967; Marcolongo, Carcassi, Frullini, Bianco, and Bravi, 1967). The purpose of this paper was to study the serum levels of immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA, IgM) and to compare them with serological RF-positivity in the serum of patients with JRA.

Immunoglobulin E-rheumatoid factor in the serum of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, and other diseases.
A solid-phase radioimmunoassay was developed to detect immunoglobulin (Ig)E antibodies that bound to human IgG. IgE-rheumatoid factor activity was found in the serum of 18 of 20 patients with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis, 1 of 4 patients with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis, 3 of 32 patients with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis, 3 of 32 patients with asthma, and in 1 patient with hypoc...

متن کاملRubella antibody levels in juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
Increased rubella antibody titres have been reported in patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) and it has been suggested that rubella virus may be of importance in the aetiology or pathogenesis of the disease. In the present study, rubella and rubeola antibody titres in 85 patients with JRA were compared to age- and sex-matched controls. 41% of the patients did not have rubella antib...

One hundred fifty two patients with Juve nile rheumatoid arthritis were retrospectively studied in an effort to determine the efficacy of synovectomy in thi's disease. Twenty-five of 117 closely observed patients underwent synovectomy following failure to be controlled by more conservative measures. Analysis of the end-results on the basis of age, sex, stage of disease, and individual joints...

We report the clinical findings and analysis of the immunoglobulin (Ig) composition of the vitreous of a 10-year-old girl with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis-associated uveitis. The vitreous had a schlieren appearance at the time of pars plana lensectomy and vitrectomy. Analysis of the vitreous fluid revealed marked elevation of IgG, IgM, IgA, and albumin levels relative to vitreous fluids from ...
